We have standard packages to give hunters an indication of our costing. These packages include specific hunts, plus accommodation, meals, the hunting vehicle, PH and field guides, and more. However, we prefer to custom quote every hunter to ensure that our hunters get the ultimate hunting experience in Africa.

Income generated via hunting at Rockwood is spent on the care and protection of our rhinos. This include money spent on security and fencing, feed, vetinary aid, DNA profiling, research, and learning centres. We are eager to open our books to anyone that wishes to see what the funding covers.

We will assist hunters in selecting the correct gear for their specific hunt. Rifles can also be rented at Rockwood for those preferring not to travel with their gear.

Private rhino conservations, like Rockwood, self-fund all the high-tech security, ranger costs, rhino feed, veterinary care and more needed to safeguard their animals. They hand-rear baby rhinos whose moms can’t look after them. They also pour money into research and repopulation efforts, with the hope of one day relocating rhinos into the wild or, at least, to wild reserves and parks.

Conservation and hunting are closely related. The upkeep, and conservation and security costs of wild animals (especially threatened species, like rhinos) are tremendously high. Income generated from hunters, who are allowed to hunt carefully selected species in our private game reserve, fund the conservation of the rest of our herds. Limited targeted rhino hunting on our reserve helps to advance demographic and genetic conservation goals, by addressing the problems of excess males and inbreeding. In addition, responsible trophy hunting provides a source of financial income for essential rhino security and management.
